Ferienčíková, Júdová, Timpau: Everywhen [NuDanceFest 2018]

EVERYWHEN is an intermedia performance about the incessant rotation of history. It revolves around the dual level of life: personal and political. It sets in stark contrast the image of loving, tender and kind personal life and the reality of public engagement of an individual that might often be sinister and vindictive. How do we present our political stance to our loved ones?

Woman as a loving mother who promotes killing and slavery; loving couple engaged in promotion of untoward ideology; children caught deep in play seem to be showing Heil-Hitler signs. Snapsots that are somehow off the rail. Images of ordinary families, mothers and fathers with their offspring, small children facing the imminent danger of history repeating itself.

Our memories often surface, are altered, improved, even arbitrarily erased. By omitting some events and rewriting history, however, we build communication barrier between the incoming generation and older people. Hence emerges the fertile soil that will again give birth to certain chapters of history. Can one at all prevent such repetition, if ideology is imprinted in our body virtually like DNA? How difficult is it to be critical of our own worldview, particularly if it comes from those closest to us?
