WORKSHOP: DANCE 60+ [NuDanceFest 2018]

Contemporary dance workshop designated for the elderly offers a theoretical and practical insight into the work with minimalist music. We shall be working with the principles of chorus, learn movement variations drawing from our physical givens and potential. We will use movement sequences to create a brief joint choreography based on an excerpt of minimalist compositions (Philip Glass, Steve Reich).

Tutors: Petra Fornayová, Fero Király

The workshop is followed by a screening of short dance films and an informal Q&A session.

About the tutors:

Petra Fornayová is choreographer, dancer, actor, organizer. She is author of a range of theatre – dance performances, a number of which have featured at major festivals (Divadelná Nitra, Jamais Vu! Paris, Dance Prague, MediaWave Györ, ConfiDance Siena, Ars Cameralis Katowice etci.). Her last performance Subjective Future has been selected for New Drama Festival competition 2018. She was nominated for the Sun in a Net Award for her role in the film Nina of the director Juraj Lehotský.

Fero Király graduated at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, having specialised in piano. He works on music projects with outreach to performance, soundart and installations. As soloist, member of the acclaimed Cluster ensemble he performs contemporary music. Mr Király is promoter of minimalist music and of Philip Glass works in Slovakia. He also runs learning projects focusing on music.

 

The workshop is a part of the off-programme of the 13th edition of contemporary dance and physical theatre festival Nu Dance Fest 2018.
