Official program of the first SLOVAK DANCE PLATFORM

December 7, 2020, we publish the official program of the first SLOVAK DANCE PLATFORM.

In recent days, the dramaturgical board has selected 11 of the 53 submitted works for the main program. Miroslava Kovářová, artistic director of the Bratislava in Movement festival, Monika Čertezni, dancer and researcher at the Theater Institute, Honza Malík, dramaturg of the Nu Dance Fest festival, dancer and producer from the Czech Republic, Zuzana Hájková, choreographer and artistic director of the Divadlo Štúdio tanca in Banská Bystrica and Katarína K. Cvečková, theater and dance critic and publicist.

The program of the first SLOVAK DANCE PLATFORM will take place until May or June 2021 due to measures related to the pandemic. In the following days, we will contact the authors of selected works to specify the dates of the festival. The productions and their authors will also be presented on the website www.danceplatform.sk, where those foreign presenters who will not be able to come to Bratislava in person will also find them.

The ambition of organizations operating in the field of contemporary dance in Slovakia - the Bratislava in Movement Association, Contemporary Dance Platform (Slovak acronym: PlaST), Nu Dance Fest and the Theater Institute - is to build the SLOVAK DANCE PLATFORM as a regular festival biennial, always taking place in November. This year is exceptional and unconventional in every way - without a pandemic, we would evaluate it these days.

Due to the number of quality projects, the Dramaturgical Board decided to allow other selected artists to participate in the study format show and tell with an excerpt of the work or another form of presentation. Such formats tend to be part of showcase festivals. Their positive is the direct contact with the promoters in the studio or presenting space, as well as the opportunity to give an insight into the way of working, or to present new, upcoming projects.
