26th-28th May 2022
Dance Residency Centre Telocvičňa, Bratislava
Three day event consisting of different formats of sharing artistic practices, discussions, lectures and physical workout.
Symposium was initiated by a group of dancers and thinkers from within the Slovak Platform for Contemporary Dance. It takes place in an old gym transformed recently into a dance residency centre which opens its doors to wider cross contamination of thoughts and experiences. The content is provided by curators and the invited guests in traditional and more open formats.
It was originally conceived as a post-covid interdisciplinary live exchange of artists, driven by the need to physically share the space and reflect the nowness without the pressure to produce a work. Standing at the threshold of a long and cruel war and facing images of human aggression or ongoing urgency of ecological crisis, the curatorial team focused the programme of the days around key notions addressed each day:
26th May: FIGHT/SELF-DEFENSE
Explores sociology of fight and aggression, in sport and life, the art of self defense and the possibility of post-pacifism.
27th May: LOSS/LAMENT
Confronts with dying and lamenting bodies, explores the rituals of leaving, giving up things, but also explores the decadent world of mystical practices foretelling the future.
28th May: COMMUNITY/CIRCULATION
Searches for different ways of building communities and collaboration, dissolves the human into the natural world, trying also to elope anthropocentrism or national borders.

In creative collaboration with: Maja Hriešik and Soňa Kúdeľová.
