Dance Season 2019/2020 is the second year of a nationwide project, the main goal of which is to map current work on the domestic scene of contemporary dance. The organizers and participants of the project strive for a better evaluation of the dance work, promoting discussions, but also making works more accessible to the audience and increase the visibility of contemporary dance in a broader artistic context. One of the motives for the creation of the project was the preparation of the Slovak Dance Platform 2020 as well as the need to stimulate reflection and cultivate heoretical discussion.
After the first successful year, the project continues with reflections and analyzes of works from the contemporary dance scene, which were created in the current season 2019/2020 in Slovakia or in international cooperation (with at least one Slovak co-producer). Five personalities from the field of dance, theory and art criticism map the season and analyze and evaluate all works through a cycle of professional discussions and critical reflections. Outputs in the form of written reflections will be published on the website plast.dance.sk. The project will then culminate in a final public moderated discussion during the Slovak Dance Platform festival in November 2020.
The main partner of the project is the Slovak Arts Council.
Katarína Cvečková is the coordinator of the discussions and the editor of the outputs.
The evaluators of the Dance Season 2019/2020 are Eva Gajdošová, Marek Godovič, Katarína Marková and Michaela Pašteková.
