We invite you to a panel discussion where the Slovak context will be complemented by experts from the neighboring countries of Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland and Ukraine.

﹡ Anna Sedlačková (SK)
Graduate of dance pedagogy at the Department of Dance in 1987. She is involved in choreographic and performing activities within the group AS Projekt, Neskorý zber o.z. and as a guest she also collaborates with various national and international artists. Since 1997 she has been a teacher at the KTT Academy of Performing Arts, where she teaches modern dance and contemporary approaches to movement. As a guest teacher she teaches in educational institutions in Slovakia, Czech Republic, USA, France and elsewhere.
﹡ Ivanka Kubicová (CZ)
Dance teacher, choreographer, long-time head of the dance department (1993 - 2011). She graduated from the Prague Conservatory (1965), the London School of Contemporary Dance in London (1968 - 1972) and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. After returning from London, she was instrumental in introducing modern dance techniques to the Czech environment, specializing in the Martha Graham technique. Her pedagogical and choreographic activity in the dance group of the University Art Ensemble of Charles University in Prague (VUS UK) is considered to be very significant. She is currently a professor in Modern Dance at the Faculty of Music and Dance at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
﹡ Petra Péter (HU)
She is a cultural worker and researcher in the field of contemporary dance based in Budapest. She has been a staff member of the Budapest Circus Arts and Contemporary Dance College (bcdc.hu) since its foundation in 2004, where her work ranges from teaching dance studies and leading thesis seminars to managing international programs. Her research interests focus on the early period of contemporary dance in Hungary. She is the editor and leading researcher of the Budapest Dance School Archive (archivum.tanc.org.hu),
﹡ Joanna Szymajda (PL)
Assistant professor at the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences, dance researcher, cultural manager. She defended her doctoral thesis at Université Paris III Sorbonne Nouvelle and the University of Lodz. She holds a master's degree in theater studies and psychology from the University of Lodz and Université Lyon II. She worked as a deputy director of the National Institute of Music and Dance (2010-2017), as ballet manager of the Wrocław Opera (2018-2020), as an artistic coordinator of the International Contemporary Dance Festival Body/Mind (2007-2010 and 2021/2022) and occasionally as a dramaturg.
﹡ Maria Kardash (UA)
Independent researcher and performer exploring cultural representation, construction of Other in public narratives and notions of 'oriental' and 'exotic' in art (an array of themes that stems from her interest in dance forms outside the Western 'high art' canon). She also investigates body and dance politics in the USSR, as well as stage representation of Soviet subalterns, with a focus on Ukraine. Originally from Izmail, Ukraine, Maria spent several years studying and taking part in fellowships abroad (Erasmus Mundus, Visegrád Fund, The New School) and currently is a visiting fellow at the IWM - Institute of Social Sciences in Vienna.
