Anna Kertészová

Dancer, performer, teacher, culturologist from Nitra living in Bratislava. I actively focus on contemporary dance approaches, abstractly and respectfully working with qualities from diverse styles and subcultures of their origin, in performance. My dance background comes from urban dance styles of street and clubbing subcultures, while naturally my dance activity and research deepened and directed into the forms of contemporary dance art and performance, either separately or in connection with multiple dance forms. I have various experiences of multiple types of appearances and performances, on an interpretive and creative level. I actively performed in shows, events, art exhibitions in Slovakia and abroad - France, England, Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland. I taught workshops and regularly taught in Slovakia and abroad (Nitra, Košice, Bratislava, Leeds/UK, Switzerland, Vienna, Czech Republic, Budapest). In addition, I teach regularly and irregularly, and in my pedagogical practice I focus on developing improvisation and movement material, movement vocabulary through the approaches of contemporary dance and the styles of African-American subcultures separately or in connection. For several years I was partially active in the dance scene in Paris, where I was part of dance projects, events and I feel deeply inspired by the underground scene and the dancers over there. In addition, I feel a connection with my previous studies and cultural reflection affects my relationship to dance, creation, interpretation, the body and the world I live in. I continuously learn about dance, through workshops, education projects from choreographers and teachers of contemporary dance and physical theater or street dance forms and I believe that these "worlds" have a lot to offer each other. I have been dancing for over 15 years and I knew from the beginning that dance and subcultures and cultures they come from, shape me and teach me a lot, and I naturally started to lean towards more experimental dance approaches and performance, which led me to study a learn in the field of contemporary dance , reception, interpretation or creation.
